Thome Presents at 2022 Workers' Compensation Institute

Apr 29, 2022

Earlier this week, firm partner Joni Thome and workers’ compensation attorney Thomas Atkinson of Atkinson Gerber Law Office presented a seminar titled “Employment Claims to Watch Out for and Consult with an Employment Lawyer About” at the 2022 Minnesota Workers’ Compensation Institute.  Thome and Atkinson discussed employment law issues that often intersect with workers’ compensation claims, such as retaliation, federal medical leave requirements, and employment releases from workers’ compensation settlements. They also spoke on their own experiences in jointly representing clients that have both workers’ compensation claims a well as employment related claims.

Employees who have been injured on the job often hire workers’ compensation attorneys to help them navigate the workers’ compensation system, file a claim and recover damages for their injuries. These employees may also have employment law claims arising from their work situation that are separate from the workers’ compensation system. Employees should contact an employment attorney to understand their rights.
